Choosing a Location


Living in Chatham has its perks, first of all we are the number one bird watching destination in Ontario that being said we also have many trails and multiple access points to Lake Erie.

But in winter the county starts to slow down a bit especially with the bitter cold we dealt with this winter.

As photographer I saw an opportunity.


A dream from my youth came true, being I live in the Florida of Ontario it’s not often we see the type of snow storms we experienced for the last two seasons. I was finally able to curate a set of prints that I personally feel can be featured in a professional setting. This photo hunt as I call it produced many images that I feel proud of.

I treated the landscape around me the same way i would approach a clients session.

Rose Beach


The first part of this series takes place in Rose beach located 5 minutes away from Rondue Provincial Park.


A little history of Rose Beach Line, this stretch of Lake Erie has experienced severe on going erosion, due to this a beautiful section of the road has been permanently closed to traffic. Over the years I’ve slowly watched the already slender shore line be reclaimed by Lake Erie.


This beach has seen many aspects of my emotions, it’s seen my happiness, my indifference, my anger and my sadness. But each time I left I always felt a calm wash over me from the solitude. Even though this area is technically a cottage community, it’s not often you see the residents at the beach.

Erieau

Our journey along Lake Erie brings us to Erieau.



The Quiet of Erieau


A short drive west along the lakeshore brings you to Erieau, a narrow peninsula resting between the open water of Lake Erie and the quiet inlet of Rondeau Bay.


In winter, Erieau changes its pace. The harbor grows still, docks frost over, and the lake begins shifting shelves of ice along the shore.


Without the hustle and bustle of the warmer months, the textures of the lake start to shine.


During winter night sky viewing is an absolute must in Erieau, yes its cold but the sky is extremely clear.

Wheatley

A few miles further along the shore we land in Wheatley.

Wheatley Harbor



Living through a historical winter I am so happy to have made the trip the trip to Wheatley. This small town is nestled 45 km away from Chatham on Lake Erie. Just like many other places in the municipality Wheatley is home to wonderful water front trails along with the beautiful Two Creeks Conservation.

The End Of An Ice Journey


As bitter as this past winter was, it was truly a time of growth for me as a photographer. Taking my new found knowledge and excitement for landscapes I am looking forward to what the next season will reveal to me.
